RIP: DNR

Do you know the Reaper had a weird internal twinge when it saw DNR on its computer this morning? Do you believe in fate? It hit me that there was no need for DNR, Fairchild's men's fashion trade magazine, when they could just slap it into their bigger sister, WWD.

It was perfect! Ingenious!

Why stop the cost cutting there? Fairchild's next move would be to close Footwear News and merge it into Beauty Biz and create a special section devoted to beautiful feet!

Or merge Elegant Bride and Modern Bride into Brides and call it Modern Elegant Brides!

Or the best yet... merge W Magazine with WWD and it would become (drum roll)... WWWD!

RIP Mass Appeal magazine

Is this the cover of a successful magazine? Does seeing an unkempt and wasted Michael Pitt taking a drag make you want to pick this magazine up from the newsstand?

Worry no more because Mass Appeal <ironic title if there ever was one> is gone.

Is YRB R.I.P.?

Is YRB still open for business? Just for the name alone, which stands for Yellow Rat Bastard.

A tipster tells the Reaper that people are not receiving their issues, e-mails are bouncing back, and nobody answers the hotline for ordering merchandise. But somebody is maintaining the magazine's MySpace page?

Anybody out there know if YRB should have stuck to being a store and not a magazine?

Without a "Trace?"

A tipster writes in to say that 10-year-old "transcultural styles and idea magazine" Trace closed. They said nobody is picking up the phone, and that is true.

However, their blog is alive and well, and up to date, whereas the founder posts: "Doing research and collecting shots for an upcoming TRACE feature, photographer Lauren Silberman and I traveled from Harlem down through Manhattan and into Brooklyn to talk to voters during New York’s primary contribution to 'Super Tuesday.'”

Perhaps their answering machine broke?
