They wanted an adventure, so The Reaper obliged. Dress warmly is my advice.
National Geographic is bailing out of its spin-off magazines quickly. In this economy, if people want snow, they'll take their sleds and zoom down the hills at the local school. See that helicopter on the cover? The closest anybody is coming to one of those these days is playing Call Of Duty: World At War.
So out goes Adventure and NatGeo Traveler is being shopped, according to recent reports.
We'll be down to the core product of little rhesus monkeys and naked African children in no time.
NatGeo ready for reality show- The Search For The Next Great Bug Eyed Woman In A Poor Country.

I can understand this, as a lot of these spinoffs really work better as Web supplements already. (Take a look at the main magazine, and you'll note the amount of supplemental online content referenced in each article. A lot of magazines talk about doing this, but "NG" is about the only magazine that gives you a good reason to read it.) I think a lot of the spinoff frenzy was just due to well-meaning editors still thinking that the calendar still reads "1995", but at least "NG" is cutting that fat now before things get too bad.

How disappointing. Here, at least, was a magazine that stayed true to its editorial mission as opposed to the whims of its publisher/ad director. It harkened back to the early days of Men's Journal, before they decided that what their readers really "wanted" was fashion and technology...

Correction. You mean Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. World at War did not have helicopters, you know, WW2 and all.
