RIP: Atlanta Peach
The rich used to be different. Now they are like everybody else. They don't read anymore. They may not even be rich anymore either.
Today, Niche Media pulled the plug on one of the properties it inherited from Ocean Drive, Atlanta Peach. Launched in 2006 to replicate its success in Miami, Ocean Drive threw a lot of money getting Atlanta Peach off the tree. Atlanta already had Atlanta magazine and other upscale competitors like The Atlantan, Pink. The multi-million dollar launch party was hosted by Pamela Anderson and Ludicris, and you can see the video proof here.
However, if you've ever seen "The Real Wives of Atlanta" on Bravo, it would be difficult to believe those women were reading anything except menus.
Could Niche Media's ill-timed magazine for the Chicago rich, Michigan Ave, be next?
Off topic -
My friend works at Real Simple and they told me the management sent out an email to people (only to the ones who were going to be laid off) and told them to come to a meeting.
Other people heard about the meeting or they saw people going into the meeting, and they followed and were in the meeting when it was announced that all of these people were being laid off.
Then they went to HR and found out they weren't laid off after all, because they were not supposed to be at that meeting in the first place. After crying their eyes out!

A Kiss of Death Quality is apparent here. The worst thing that Hollywood producers can do to their movie is hire Nicole Kidman. Anytime Whoopi Goldberg is recruited to do more than yap on The View- the morning drive radio show, the comedy scheduled same time as NCIS- cousins of Reaper will follow. Rosie O' Donnell- the market clearly said shut up and go home last week. The publishers of glossy niche magazines doom their enterprise by inviting Pamela Anderson to the premiere party.
Same effect, different Reapers.
